Three Generations, One Tape Measure: Rothmans Turns 100 in New York
A Manhattan menswear institution has reached its centennial. Rothmans, the men's clothier that Harry Rothman opened in 1926, is marking a full hundred years of dressing New Yorkers. The store remains in the family, now run by Ken and Jim Giddon, whose grandfather was the founder. That makes three generations behind the same shop, which in a city that turns over its storefronts as readily as its hemlines is a rarer feat than any single well-cut suit. A century of fittings means a century of fathers bringing sons, and sons eventually bringing their own. Here at the desk we track who wore what and when, and a store that has outfitted men through every silhouette of the last hundred years deserves a place on that list. Congratulations to the Giddon brothers on the milestone.
