Before the Step-and-Repeat, There Was Daily Ballet: Hailey Bieber Designs for Adanola
Hailey Bieber has put her name to a ballet-inspired capsule with Adanola, the activewear label out of Britain. The collection reaches back to her own early years, when dance class was a daily appointment with no day off in the week. The design idea is the improvised, make-it-yourself way dancers have always assembled what they wear to work, rather than the polish of a finished performance. Any former dance student in New York will recognize that instinct on sight. It is a neat piece of casting, too: a woman now watched for what she wears to the party is going back to the discipline that came before any of it.
