Every great outfit starts long before the fitting, and a new report from the Better Cotton Initiative goes back to that beginning. Farmers who work under the initiative's standard are showing progress that can be counted, both in how responsibly they grow cotton and in what they earn from it. Credits on our pages usually name the designer, the year and the occasion, but the fiber has a maker too, and here that maker is doing well. Admirers of good tailoring, from New York to Beverly Hills, have reason to cheer a cotton field that is run well.
