Repole Moves From the Owners' Box to the Shareholder Roll
Mike Repole has added a new kind of holding to his stable. The owner disclosed on Thursday afternoon, in his own post on X, that he now holds a million shares of Churchill Downs, the Louisville company whose track stages the Kentucky Derby. That stake amounts to just under one and a half percent of the company. It was announced in plain view, by the man himself, rather than surfacing through a filing or a spokesman. Repole also signaled that his buying may not be finished. For a man the sport knows as an owner of horses, it is a different way of standing with the game: not at the rail, but inside the company that keeps the lights on beneath the twin spires.
