Eight for Flightline: A Godolphin Filly Adds to the First-Crop Tally at Keeneland
Flightline now has eight winners from his first crop to race. The latest is Jump Seat, a filly who races for Godolphin and broke her maiden at Keeneland on Wednesday afternoon. She won by two and a quarter lengths, a clear margin that came with no late scramble at the wire. Each first-crop winner gets counted closely, by the breeders who sent mares to the horse and by the buyers who will bid on his foals in the ring. On the dam's side, Jump Seat is a half-sister to the champion Essential Quality, so she now has a winning line on her own record. A Godolphin-bred filly by a first-crop sire, out of a champion's dam, winning on a Lexington weekday afternoon is the kind of result Kentucky racing is built to produce.
