A Place on the Mall for the Rosies
One of the women known as the Rosies has made the case, in a piece for The Hill, that their generation's work deserves a permanent place of honor on the National Mall. She writes for the Rosies who are still here, and their wish is a personal one: they want to be there themselves on the day that tribute is made. Their names would join the monuments that line the capital's great lawn, the ground where the country records whom it means to remember. For a city that marks its calendar by dedications and its seasons by the memorials visitors walk among, the Rosies are asking for recognition in the most public setting Washington has.
