The Classroom Before the Cockpit: Methods That Keep Young Students Attentive
Flying has put together a set of tested methods for holding the attention of younger aviation students during classroom instruction and helping the material sink in further than rote memorization. For owners, this is not abstract. Every captain who will one day sign for your airplane on a Part 91 or 91K trip starts at a classroom desk, learning the regulations and systems theory long before touching a yoke. How well that first instruction is taught shapes the professionals the rest of us will eventually hire. Any owner who sponsors a scholarship or lends a hangar for a local flight school's evening class can reasonably ask how it is being taught.
