Old Dominion Closes Out a Second Year on the Florida Sand

Old Dominion spent last weekend in Florida's Miramar, hosting the Moon Crush gathering the band calls its Odies Beach Vacation, and the event is now in the books for a second year running. The name tells you the whole premise. A band and the people who follow it leave the arena circuit behind and share a few days on the beach, with the Gulf-coast light doing the work a lighting rig usually does. Coming back for a second edition is its own kind of review: the first one earned the repeat. From where we sit, that is the pleasure of covering an act whose business runs through this town while its best weekends happen somewhere with sand underfoot, and the Odies get the rare chance to see the band with its shoes off. The weekend has ended, the guests have gone home, and the name on the event now has a second year attached to it.
